HPU Print Shop: Placards

Everything you need to know for ordering prints or preparing prints you plan on sending to the HPU print shop!

Placards

Everything you will need to know for creating and understanding how we operate using placards!

The only way to submit your placard to be printed at our shop is by using the HPU Placard Request Form.

Placard information will be located on the same page as the Printshop Request Form.

You can find the placard form by typing in highpoint.edu/library/printing/

It should direct you to this page Placard's Link
Don't feel like typing? Try scanning it!

Be sure to click the door Icon instead of the printer icon, as the door icon will direct you to placards and the printer icon will send you to our Printshop request form.

Also, like our print form, you will need to login in with your HPU Credentials.

Trouble Shooting Placard Problems

First and foremost make sure that you are on the correct placard template as we have changed a few over the years.

Below is what the placard template should look like upon going to the placard page. If you have trouble logging in or do not see the main page below, please reach out to IT.

After logging in and successfully getting to the site you should be able to see options for what kind of placards we have available.

Please take the time to go through the different categories to find the placard that best suites for your needs.

Click the hyperlink on the side of the placard to download the template.

Adding in information

After doing so you'll see a preview of the document in your window of the file you have downloaded.

Do NOT start editing and working on your placard in the preview; this will prevent the generator from working properly and won't allow you to upload photos in the preview state.

Instead, ignore the preview and download the file shown by using the download icon on the right side window.

Make sure to save your pdf as your full name: e.g. Prowler_the_Panther.pdf.

Once you have renamed the download, you are ready to move over to Adobe Acrobat DC and start adjusting your placard.

If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, please reach out to IT to request installation. Adobe Acrobat and the Creative Cloud are free for all HPU faculty and staff to use!

After you have opened up the application on your desktop, start entering your information and make sure to delete any information that isn't needed for your placard.

ANY unwanted section blocks that aren't deleted will still appear on your printed placard if you do not erase them during this process.

It is not recommended to put your personal information on these placards, so please keep in mind to only put your official HPU email, phone number, or numbers while creating your placard.

Uploading Images

If applicable you're able to upload images to your placard from your desktop. Hover over to the right-hand side and click the "upload photo" button.

The icon above will appear to assist you with the image process.

Click the "browse" button and you will be taken back to your upload options on your computer.

Select the image you would like as the placard photo; please make sure it is a high-quality image.

Once you have selected your photo, you'll see a preview of the photo before it is placed in the placard itself. If you have selected the wrong image or are not happy with the preview, you can clear the image and replace it with another one.

If you are happy with the results however, you can select "OK" and your image will be placed in the placard.

After you have uploaded the image you would like to use, congratulations! You are done!

Uploading Your Placard

The final step of the process is to make sure to save your file, so it will retain all of the information you've entered.

You can save by going to "File" -> "Save" or by using the shortcut tool CTRL+ S on PC and CMD + S on Mac. .

After saving the file you then will need to upload it so it can be printed.

We now have two different options for uploading images, one for single uploads and another for multiple.

Please make sure to upload your information to the proper sections accordingly.

Keep in mind that the phone number and any other information that is submitted will be used to contact you if any issues happen during the printing process.

Placard Pick Up

After submitting your placard in the system successfully you will see this pop-up appear, if you do not see it appear on your screen then you will need to resubmit as it hasn't gone through our generator.

The Adobe Acrobat application is the only proper way to have the generator work. Its online extension counterpart on your computer will not work well.

Please refer to the Adding in Information section for more questions regarding how our generators work and how to complete your placard correctly.
