School of Education Resource Center: Instructional Materials (IMC)

This guide will help you navigate the physical and electronic resources available through the School of Education Resource Center.

Instructional Material Collection (IMC)

Our instructional material collection includes over 1,000 resources for teacher reference, assessment, lesson planning and more! In the IMC collection, you'll find:

  • Teacher reference materials, including the first 91 volumes of Children's Literature Review. Click here for a handy online index to the CLR.

  • Testing and assessment kits, including the K-TEA II, K-BIT II, Brigance, Peabody, Vineland and Conners tests. Keep in mind that assessment materials placed on reserve are sometimes held behind the circulation desk at Smith Library. Check the catalog before you come in!

  • Professional books covering a broad range of subjects and grade levels. These include lesson planning books with reproducible handouts as well as books on standard implementation and classroom management.

  • Educational games and resource boxes to engage students.

  • Literacy kits: some with 6 copies of a book for reading circles, others with several books on a topic or theme.

  • Audiobooks: these are mostly books on cassette with the physical book included. To search audiobooks online, try Audiobooks on EBSCO.

  • Puppets, blocks, educational posters and an assortment of manipulatives for classroom use.

*We also have a collection of animated DVDs as well as other movies suitable for children in the DVD collection on the first floor of Smith Library. You can check out DVDs from the "animated" section, or look for titles from this list of live action children's films.
