In the citation-name system, superscripted numbers are inserted at the point of reference as in the citation sequence system. However, the citations are numbered alphabetically (not by order of appearance) by the author's last name in the cited works for the paper.

Search the journal name in the CAS source Index Look Up Tool to find the correct Journal Title Abbreviation. You can locate the name of the journal on the database you are using. The journal name and publication information is usually located near the title of the article on the webpage.
