Citation to either of the unofficial codes must contain the name of the publisher in addition to the above information. See below. Similarly, where the section being cited has been updated by a pocket part or supplement, the citation to the supplement is tacked to the main citation by an ampersand. Finally, statutory provisions appearing in an appendix will include the appendix as the source of the citation. See, Bluebook 12.3.1(g).
When preparing a citation, irrespective of the size or complexity of the title, there are only three pieces of information that need to be considered: title, section (and subsections if applicable), and the year of publication. All other pieces of information (subtitles, chapters, and parts) should be ignored and omitted in legal citation.
Example: 10 U.S.C. § 123(a) (2018).

The last information (date) is important because the U.S.C. is revised every six years. The date information is meant to inform the reader about the referenced edition. There are many volumes in each title. Check the spine for the contents of each volume.
