3D Printing: Tutorials and Software

Blender is an open-source tool set that allows users create 3D models and animation. It is a full-fledged suite of creative tools for a wide variety of applications.

SketchUp has an impressive set of tools, mostly used in designing architectural models, interior design, mechanical engineering and landscape architecture. SketchUp also has thousands of pre-made models available online.

Another open-source design tool used primarily for electrical and mechanical engineering. It is a parametric modeler, allowing users to easily modifying their designs by going back into the history of the model and changing its parameters.

A powerful modeling tool from AutoDesk. Fusion 360 is a proprietary software, though it is offered free for students.

This is one of the more approachable 3D modelers out there. It is free to use and web-based. While it is easy to start designing objects in TinkerCAD, there are limits to what it can do.
