Endnote X9 and EndNote Online: Highlight & Annotate

This guide will assist you with downloading and using the latest version of Endnote.

Highlight & Annotate References

Once you get your references into EndNote, you can annotate and highlight your PDFs within the program. EndNote will store your notes all in one place!

When you "pop out" the PDF, EndNote's PDF reader will come up. Features including searching within the text, saving, printing, e-mailing, highlighting, commenting, underlining, and striking out text. Also notice you can attach more files to the reference, so if you'd rather write a summary in a word processor, you have the option to attach it.

**For an annotated bibliography, you will want to edit each reference and paste your formal annotation in the "Research Notes" field. You can later select an annotated output style to automatically include your annotations in your exported bibliography.
