Free Media Software: Screencasts

This is a list of free media software to use for photo, audio, video editing - and more!

CamStudio is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using its built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs).

Jing is a free computer service that lets you capture basic video, animation, and still images, and share them on the web.

Monosnap is cloud service that allows easy, convenient, and rapid saving and editing of screenshot for Macs.

Open Broadcaster Software

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free and open source software for recording and live streaming. OBS is first and foremost a video streaming tool so others can view your screen in real-time. OBS also has the option to do a “local stream,” which takes your “stream” and outputs it into a video file instead.

One-click screen capture recording on Windows or Mac computers with no install. You can record up to 15 minutes of a screen tutorial or a video of yourself.

Record software demonstrations and tutorials, publish in Flash, view on the Webinaria website or your own, and receive ratings, comments and share your video with others.
