HPU Archives: Refining Your Search

A guide on how to use and search the HPU Archives

Refining Your Search

Whether you've done a simple search or an advanced search, you can refine your results further by using the filters on the left-hand side of the page.

As you can see, you will be able to filter by collection, subject, creator (such as photographer, artist, or author), date created, and format (such as photograph or document). You can also use the "collections" filter to choose which collections you do not want to search. For example, perhaps you want to look for mentions of Roberts Hall in newsletters, commencement programs, photographs and video, and student publications, but nowhere else. You would simply un-check the collections you wish to exclude in your search, then click "Update."

If you've narrowed your search too far and have too few or zero results…

Simply click "x" on one of the filter terms at the top to try and generate more results.
