Apple iPads at HPU

Apple iPads are tablet computers designed by Apple and run on Apple iOS software.  The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard. The iPad has built-in Wi-Fi and, on some models, cellular connectivity.  An iPad can shoot video, take photos, play music, and perform Internet functions such as web-browsing and emailing. Other functions—games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, etc.—can be enabled by downloading and installing apps; as of 2013, the App Store offered more than 800,000 apps by Apple and third parties.

High Point University checks out iPads through IT, Campus Concierge, and HPU Libraries to students, staff, and faculty.  The iPads provided by HPU Libraries come with apps pre-installed in the categories of education, history, reference, entertainment, news, books, social, and more.  The iPads provided by HPU Libraries are the only iPads available at HPU that come with pre-installed apps.  This page is designed to help summarize the many apps available through the HPU Libraries iPads.
