Primary Sources : Smith Catalog Search

Primary sources are contemporary accounts of an event, written or depicted by someone who experienced or witnessed the event in question.

Searching the Catalog for Primary Sources

Click on the Advanced Search link below. It will take you to the interface for Smith Library's catalog Advanced Search. The multiple search boxes offer the ability to pair the signifying terms listed below with the subject of the source, for example: "civil war" and "diaries" or "vietnam" and "letters". Select "HPU Libraries, High Point University" for the Library. Both search terms should be limited to "Subject".

When searching a library catalog, use these search terms to identify primary sources:

correspondence / letters / diaries / accounts / journals / voices / writings / documents / recordings / papers / narratives
