Leisure Reading: Book Awards & Prizes

The works that make it to the final (or short-list) stages of major international book awards are usually well worth reading.  There are many different types of awards, given out in many different categories, for many different types of literature.  

• The Pulitzer Prize, named after Joseph Pulitzer, are in fact awards given in twenty one different categories each year.
• ....and the 2020 winners and finalists were ...!

The mission of the National Book Foundation and the National Book Awards is to celebrate the best of American literature, to expand its audience, and to enhance the cultural value of great writing in America.

• The Printz Award is for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.
